The island chain closest to Nadi, there is a wide selection of resorts on the Mamanucas, catering in every budget.
Accommodation on Mamanuca Islands
Navini Island Resort
At this intimate resort, you can encircle the entire island in a ten minute walk. Each of the ten bures face the water and protected coral surrounding Navini Island. There are no day-trippers allowed here, so quiet, peaceful seclusion is ensured. Plus, you know all of your needs will be met, as the staff outnumbers the guests at Navini!
Malolo Island Resort
Explore the nearby local village of Yaro, fish the typical Fijian way or relax in your beachfront bure, all at Malolo Island Resort. For those traveling with children, a Kid’s Club provides some well-deserved alone time.
Matamanoa Island Resort
Situated on a volcanic cone, surrounded by dense forest, the island’s natural beauty is only matched by the 20 beachfront bures at Matamanoa Island Resort. With traditional thatched roofs, Italian tile and decorated by Fijian tapa, the bures elegantly combine traditional and modern influences. Children under the age of 12 are not permitted.
Tokoriki Island Resort
Choose from among 24 beachfront bures and villas at the Tokoriki Island Resort. Everything from spa therapies to diving lessons from the local dive shop are available activities. The eco-friendly island is also a founding member of the Mamanuca Environment Society, dedicated to preserving the chain’s natural beauty.
Mana Island Resort
Mana Island may be the largest spot of land in the Mamanucas, however, it’s still home to less than a few hundred people! The island offers three distinct beaches and two fantastic lookout points. Courtney, a BigDay writer, stayed for nearly a week on Mana and claims that its highlights were “learning how to crack open coconuts, watching sunsets, SCUBA diving and relaxing!”
Castaway Island Resort
The Castaway Island Resort provides the most popular accommodation in the island chain, featuring 66 bures of island, ocean and beach classification. Relax with tennis, SCUBA, windsurfing, sailing, water-skiing, parasailing or fishing near the resort.
Sonaisali Island Resort
Three different types of bures are available at the Sonaisali Island Resort, each providing a harmonizing mix of traditional exteriors and modern interiors. Activities at Sonaisali are plentiful, with coconut leaf weaving, Fijian story telling, native dances, sulu-tying demonstrations and many more!
LikuLiku Lagoon Resort
Fiji’s newest resort – having opened up in February, 2007 – LikuLiku Lagoon Resort boasts the famous overwater bungalows more commonly found in Tahiti. Home to 46 bures, LikuLiku includes modern amenities like WiFi, a stylish boutique and a day spa. During the day, take in the breathtaking views with hikes around the resort, or gape at the colorful fish underwater SCUBA diving. View additional photos of the LikuLiku Lagoon Resort.
Restaurants on Mamanuca Islands
Hotel restaurants are usually open to day-trippers, as stand-alone restaurants do not exist on most of the tiny islands.
Navini Island Resort
Navini takes advantage of their beautiful location with an open-air dining room, serving fresh-caught fish and tropical fruits at every meal. However, other options abound, and each item – from the ice cream to the bread – is prepared on site. Dining here is only offered to resort guests.
Malolo Island Resort
There are plentiful places to dine at Malolo Island Resort, with three bars – Pool, Tree Tops and Beach Bar – and two restaurants. The Terrace Restaurant provides outside dining with views of Fiji’s only sand lagoon pool. Situated at the top of the coconut trees overlooking the resort, hence its name, the Tree Tops Restaurant specializes in variable gourmet Pacific Rim cuisine.
Matamanoa Island Resort
Dining experiences at the Matamanoa Island Resort combine Fijian and international fare, set to the background of a serenading string band. Stick around after you dine and participate in the nightly activity, from crab racing to a kava ceremony to broom dancing! On Saturday nights, dine on the BBQ seafood buffet.
Tokoriki Island Resort
With a heavy emphasis on Fijian-flair, the chefs at Tokoriki Island Resort serve up Asian, European and international dishes. You can also request a day at your own remote, private beach, with a sensational chef-prepared picnic lunch.
Mana Island Resort
There are three bars to choose from at the Mana Island Resort – one inside the lounge, one by the pool and – best of all – one on the South Beach. An a la carte menu is available from the Mamanuca Restaurant.
Castaway Island Resort
Start of your day with a full breakfast buffet and end with a traditional seafood or Fijian-influenced dinner. For a lighter meal, enjoy drinks and a wood-fired pizza at the Sundowner Bar.
Sonaisali Island Resort
Enjoy open-air dining at the Sunset Terrace Restaurant, open for all three meals, including nightly themed buffets. The gourmet Plantation Restaurant provides a sumptuous dining experience, with a 14-course dinner on offer.
LikuLiku Lagoon Resort
For lighter fare, visit the Dua Tale, with nightly live music, or the Masima Bar, overlooking the lagoon. Fijiana, the gourmet restaurant at LikuLiku, specializes in mini-degustation menus, which change daily.
